A FRESH NEW NAME & A STYLISH NEW CHAPTER FOR THIS PLAYA DEL CARMEN RESORT
June 3, 2025

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the transformation of Thompson Playa del Carmen Main House and Beach House into the Hyatt Centric Playa del Carmen. This rebranding marks a strategic shift that aligns perfectly with the Hyatt Centric identity: modern, lifestyle-driven stays in the center of the action. Situated right on Playa’s iconic Quinta Avenida, the hotel promises guests a front-row seat to the energy, color, and rhythm of this coastal paradise.
Hyatt Centric Playa del Carmen will continue offering two distinctive experiences: Downtown House, an adults-only urban escape, and Beach House, a serene beachfront retreat ideal for families and romantic getaways. Together, they offer 119 spacious rooms and suites, many with private balconies, plunge pools, and curated mid-century-modern decor that reflects the spirit of the destination. Whether sipping a cocktail at the rooftop infinity pool, soaking in Caribbean views from your suite, or grabbing a locally inspired snack from the 24-hour Market, every moment is designed to inspire exploration and relaxation in equal measure.
Guests of Downtown House will enjoy the vibrant rooftop scene, featuring UMI Urban Kitchen—a fresh twist on international street food favorites—and Alessia Dayclub, complete with luxury cabanas, a swim-up bar, and sweeping views of the coast. Meanwhile, Beach House guests are treated to a more tranquil experience, including private transfers in a vintage Volkswagen Beetle, a beachfront pool, and C Grill, where fresh seafood and seasonal flavors take center stage. With flexible event spaces, locally rooted design by Niz + Chauvet, and a prime location that invites you to step out and explore, Hyatt Centric Playa del Carmen is poised to become a dynamic new favorite in Mexico’s Riviera Maya.
