Leading Hotels of the world (LHW) adds Mexico City Hotel to its portafolio

The Leading Hotels of the World  (LHW) has added six new member hotels to its curated portfolio of luxury independent hotels. The Summer 2024 collection includes three new hotel openings in Puglia, Bodrum, and Mexico City. “2024 is an exciting year for new hotels and for expanding LHW’s presence around the globe,” said Deniz Omurgonulsen, vice-president, Member Experience, The Leading Hotels of the World. “In addition to building our portfolio in high-demand European destinations, this collection represents LHW’s strategic growth into Asia and The Americas— where we are seeing significant increases in luxury travel bookings, behavior and development. We continue to celebrate the pinnacle of independent, luxury hospitality in all its facets.”

Located in the iconic Torre Virreyes skyscraper, colloquially known as “The Dorito” for its striking, angular silhouette, Alexander combines high design, refined amenities and impeccable attention to detail. The property offers a new level of comfort and luxury in the city, including 26 spacious suites filled with Italian furnishings, a state-of-the-art gym, Caviar Bar and curated, concierge-booked experiences from private yoga to sound healing. At Chef Gabriela Ruiz Lugo’s Carmela y Sal restaurant, fine dining meets homestyle cooking for an elevated take on traditional Mexican cuisine.

This inclusion in the LHW portfolio makes Alexander an exciting choice for any groups visiting Mexico City, and continues to strengthen the Mexican capital’s reputation worldwide for world-class luxury tourism.

Mexico continues to shine as one of the world’s most dynamic travel destinations. Between January and September 2025, the country experienced strong growth in international arrivals, highlighting the appeal of its diverse landscapes, cultural richness, and world-class hospitality. Looking ahead, 2026 promises to be historic, with major events such as the FIFA World Cup and FITUR expected to draw visitors from around the globe. The country’s maritime and cruise tourism also experienced a notable rebound, reflecting the popularity of Mexico’s coastal regions and islands. Ports welcomed a growing number of travelers seeking sun-soaked adventures, culinary experiences, and immersive cultural activities along the Riviera Maya, Pacific Coast, and other key destinations. Secretary of Tourism Josefina Rodríguez Zamora emphasized that tourism is more than an economic driver—it is a force for shared prosperity, fostering social development, strengthening local economies, and improving the quality of life for communities. “This year reflects the dedication of the sector to position Mexico as a global leader in tourism and culture,” she said. As the winter season begins, Mexico’s combination of warm climate, accessibility, and rich experiences is expected to continue attracting travelers from the United States, Canada, and beyond. With sustainable growth and innovative offerings, Mexico is not just welcoming visitors—it is creating experiences that resonate and inspire.
